Let's Do the Time-Warp Againnn!

It's just a jump to the left, and a step to the right...

On October 27th, 2017 Katrina Macri and Mike Lisecki took a pretty big step and I can't tell you how privileged I was to be stepping right along side them.

Katrina and I have been friends since elementary school days - frequently being scolded for passing notes back and forth amongst one another in class, occasionally having our chairs taken away from us after lunch recess for not having pushed them back in.  I have been so very lucky to have someone so kind, warm, and inviting in my life for so many years.  It goes without saying that in the late November days of 2016 when Kat asked me to be one of her bridesmaids I was thrilled.  But I was ecstatic when this sweet little lady and her charming, soon-to-be husband, Mike asked me if I would design and make their wedding bands!

This was a very different experience for me.  Typically my work is more in alignment with contemporary jewellery practices, but these rings would be designed in the realm of fine jewellery.  As a new resident of the Harbourfront Centre I was happily guided through the process of creating such pieces by the forever kind Lief Benner, one of the advisors to the Metal Studio residents.  I learned a great deal throughout the process and had the opportunity to work with many kind and informative individuals.  I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous and had a few moments of panic, but one can't help but feel a little bit of pressure in a scenario such as this!

Of course, everything went swimmingly.  The wedding was an absolute blast.  Everyone dressed to the nine's - looking and feeling fine.  Katrina's mum, a woman of many talents, and her band played outstanding versions of the B52's Love Shack and more notably The Time Warp.  Let me tell you, we put our hands on our hips and we went insane ... but I'd do it all over again.  Kat & Mike, congratulations and much love! x
